You are invited to take part in the Norwich Community Gardens Festival – 26-27 April 2025
We are celebrating green spaces in Norwich, from community gardens to verges, from allotments to woods, and the dedicated volunteers who manage them. Groups like yours make Norwich a great place for people and for biodiversity, and we want to show that your efforts are seen and appreciated.
Join us and your green space will be part of a city-wide celebration of spending time outside together, collaborating, and appreciating nature.
Over the course of the festival, we aim to make these spaces more visible to our neighbours and encourage more people to enjoy them and consider getting involved. You are invited to open your green space to community members, potential new volunteers and anyone curious about what goes on in Norwich.
Please fill in this form by the 24th March to let us know if you want to take part: https://forms.gle/Z8iVpXnWoXmXtq8j8
What does taking part in the Festival mean?
As long as your space is open and accessible to visitors, you can be part of the Festival.
That can mean allowing people access unattended, or having a volunteer on site ready to keep an eye on things or answer questions and explain how the space is managed. You could offer refreshments, or host a working day and invite visitors to join in. You could ask visitors to join in a bioblitz and count how many different species they can spot, or run a different kind of workshop or activity for them.
What happens next?
- Your group will be invited to an online planning session at the end of February to talk about how the festival can work best in each space and for each group. If you can’t attend that, we’ll find another way to talk.
- Together, we will work on a plan and a schedule and see what resources everyone needs by the end of March.
- We will design posters, maps and bunting and spend April promoting the Festival all across Norwich.
- We will all have a great time celebrating you and your work during the Festival.
- Afterwards, we’ll look at our impact – how many visitors did we get, how many were interested in getting involved regularly, did we inspire anyone to start a new group?
- And next year, we do it all again!
